How to Add a User's Machine to Microsoft Intune
Overview
This article explains how to import a user's device into Microsoft Intune using a hardware hash file. Once imported, the device will appear in the Windows Autopilot devices list and can be managed through Microsoft Intune.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:
- Administrator access to Microsoft Intune.
- A valid device hardware hash file (CSV file) collected from the user's machine.
- Access to the Microsoft Intune Admin Center.
Procedure
Step 1: Sign In to Microsoft Intune
- Open the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Navigate to Microsoft Intune.
- Sign in using an administrator account if prompted.
Step 2: Navigate to Windows Autopilot Enrollment
- In the Intune Admin Center, select Devices from the left navigation pane.
- Choose Windows as the operating system.
- Click Enrollment.
- Under Windows Autopilot, select Devices.
Step 3: Import the Device
- Click Import.
An import window will appear.
- Click Browse and select the device hardware hash file (CSV file).
- Verify that the correct file has been selected.
- Click Import to start the upload process.
Step 4: Verify Device Import
- Wait for the import process to complete.
- Refresh the Windows Autopilot Devices page if necessary.
- Confirm that the device serial number appears in the list of Autopilot devices.
Result
The user's machine is successfully imported into Windows Autopilot and is now available for enrollment and management through Microsoft Intune.
Additional Notes
- The import process may take several minutes to complete.
- Ensure the hardware hash file is generated correctly before importing.
- Administrator permissions are required to perform device imports.
- If the device does not appear after import, verify the hardware hash file format and check for any import errors in Intune.
